I Wish I'd Thought of That

I’m curious if there’s any fics where Pyro isn’t totally muffled? It’d be interesting to see how people write him when he actually has something to say, instead of being more of a simplistic pet of a character.

I guess Bountry’s technically done something close, and canonically he’s never been given any “real” dialogue in either the game or the comics, but still. Interesting.

SO TODAY’S STREAM WAS A LOT MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN THE LAST ONE! GO US!
Thanks to those who showed and requested. Above are probably some doodles so nonsensical, you’d need a translator.
ALLOW ME (left to right):->Merasdump, pretty self-explanatory. Except for the corner. Someone requested Sniper falling down the stairs gracefully.->Sheer nonsense. Someone requested Balloonicorn at the bar being served by zombie!spy. Top right was supposed to be Vladimir Segeri from RE though I failed miserably. Bottom right was an inspirational/sexy sniper for someone who needed a motivational boost to get through their finals week.->Close-up of said sniper as per request. c:THAT WAS FUN. I’LL PROBABLY DO ANOTHER ONCE BREAK KICKS IN. SEE YOU THERE!

Oh my goodness. Merasmus’ face looks a lot like The Alchemist’s here, and now I’m reading his lines in Dana Snyder’s voice. His old gay monk voice. Mwahaha.expzombie:

Why do I always think “Wrangler” instead of “Gunslinger?”

I usually catch myself and correct it before posting but still. They’re totally different things!

I guess it’s ‘cuz I always think of the Gunslinger allowing you to wrangle a mini-sentry?

Time to Vote for the Saxxys!

Oh man, I’ve never done this before! But since I’ve had so many more great SFM videos to watch lately thanks to the Saxxys, I guess I should go to the trouble of voting huh?

Me always wanting to be fair though, I feel like I have to watch every entry before I can vote, even though I’ve likely seen most of the highlights already…

Yay!  I finally got the picture I took with a Pauling at PAX!
I say a Pauling, but she was really the Pauling; it’s not exactly a common cosplay.  She was one of the few people who recognized me instantly and seemed downright ecstatic to do so.  I was glad to see her, too, as I’d initially wanted Pauling to be my Sunday cosplay but bailed on it.
It really is a shame I didn’t stop more TF2 people.  My costume was fine, but without a bunch of classes Scout’s Mom can be kind of hard for non-fans to place. Context! View Larger

I’m back from PAX er’body!  I had a great time, as expected, though perhaps not so great as my first time.  Of course, nothing can really compare to that first-time wonder.
I did two cosplays, my first time really making a whole outfit by myself.  I mentioned Pauling got cut from the bunch, she was going to be my Sunday, but I just didn’t have the time or the skills really.  And it worked out okay ‘cuz late afternoon on Friday, while I was Scout’s Mom, I actually ran into a Pauling!  She was one of the few people to immediately recognize me and actually ask for my picture; I ended up getting pics of us together.  A friend took it though so it’ll be a while before I get copies.
Flapjack got a lot more attention simply because he was the star of his own show rather than a side-side-character.  Got a good amount of pics as him, and also two mysterious tiny holes in the underside of my yoga pants.  I’m going to hope it was me running into something pokey and not my huge ass ripping a hole in them.
Cosplay ended up being fun, but tiring.  Getting ready as Scout’s Mom took some time and I lost the original backing of one of my earrings.  Luckily our hostess at the time had extras.  I also tore my pantyhose before the expo even opened thanks to the rough exterior of my Intel but it wasn’t too noticeable and I took it and the shoes off later in the day anyway, my heels were killing me ‘cuz the shoes rubbed.  It was a little expensive, but for a first time and general practice I think it turned out really good!  Lemme know if you saw me!I’m back from PAX er’body!  I had a great time, as expected, though perhaps not so great as my first time.  Of course, nothing can really compare to that first-time wonder.

So this is it!  I finally finished my briefcase; the final coats of sealant are totally dry and the interior’s had a quick de-dusting to make it less musty.
I must say I’m pretty impressed with myself, what with this being my first cosplay prop ever.  I did have some help from my surprisingly eager dad, who took the opportunity to buy himself a Dremmel and even went out on his own to work on it without me a few times.  I still had a hand in everything though and definitely did all the non-power tool work, and even some of that as well!  Dremmels aren’t so scary. :P

My dress is coming along nicely, too.  It’s been pinned and taken in where it needed to be, now I just have to attach the straps and hem it and that’ll be done, too!  I’ve got most of the accessories I need already, still have to figure out which style I’m going to use to make my headband (I’ll be wrapping a plain one in scrap fabric so it’ll match) and I’m keeping an eye out for shoes, but all the big stuff is pretty much out of the way now!
I’m so proud of myself for getting it done, but also of my parents who were oddly supportive once I got started, I think ‘cuz I asked for their help in areas they both personally enjoy.  We don’t do family projects very often so it was kind of nice having something to bond over besides news.

Oh yeah, one of the differences between my briefcase and some of the others I’ve seen out there is…mine actually works!  Some people have just made literal blue boxes and that passes for a briefcase, but I figured if I’m going to be carrying it around all day, why not make it functional?  The close is a little sticky, but then it is a thrift shop find, so hopefully it’ll turn out to be the coolest swag-bag ever!So this is it!  I finally finished my briefcase; the final coats of sealant are totally dry and the interior’s had a quick de-dusting to make it less musty.

Cosplay News!

Well, I’ve had some setbacks but for the most part things have been going pretty smoothly once I set to working.

My dress ended up being about a size or two too small just in the hips, and since I cut it to the smallest size in the pattern there’s no more room for letting it out, so I’ll be attaching some thin strips as suggested by some local ladies to avoid having to cut and pin all over again.  Once that’s done it should be smoother sailing to finish the rest of it since it’s just basic sewing, no buttons or anything.

My briefcase on the other hand has been pretty smooth sailing.  Tonight I roused my dad and we finished carving out the last of the buttons and knobs, so I primed them so they’ll be ready to paint by morning if I so choose.  After that it’s just gluing everything on, doing a little more detail painting, and then sealing the whole thing which’ll also give it the shiny metallic look it has in-game.  I’ve been so happy with how that’s been turning out at least, I’ve been really tempted to post more pictures of it but most of the changes have been pretty small since painting the whole thing blue, so I didn’t want to spam the place up with them.  You can rest assured you’ll be getting pics once it’s done though!  And of course of the whole outfit!

I never did find those Spy pictures, but then I also didn’t look very hard.  I’m sure someone on a TF2 fansite probably has them but I don’t frequent any and I’m not that pressed to find or use them so if I don’t find them myself I’ll just go without.

I also still need shoes and a headband but since I’m planning on not only recycling the shoes with Flapjack, but also just painting flats so I won’t kill my feet at a con in heels, that should just involve a trip to a local craft store.

Makin’ Hats

For the first time in forever really, I’m not into the trading scene at all and after once completely demolishing my inventory for Warehouse points I’ve vowed to never again reduce my options.  I now only Scrap items I have duplicates of, which of course means crafting is a slow process for me.

So I finally get that last Scrap that’s the whole key to the puzzle, and I go to Craft Headgear.

And out pops.

A bird.

A big, green, bird.

Guess who just crafted herself a Bird-Man of Aberdeen ya’ll?!

Really I don’t even play Demoman hardly at all (I’m pretty terrible at him) but maybe this is a reward for actually practicing and playing around with Demo Knight last night.
