Halloween party tomorrow niiiiiight, gonna get out of this freezing room, shake mah booteh in a tiny dress~
I have yet to do any Halloween TF2 stuff though, and I wanna know what everyone’s costumes are! I got the Medic’s last year and have a few odds and ends for the people I cared less about (of course Spy’s was the sexiest and Medic’s was actually kinda crappy but meh). These Scream Fortress lines are getting me so excited thouhg~
Though a different Doctor than you’re used to, probably.
I’ve always admired Skirtzzz over on DA, from her wonderful costume designs (both concepts and fully realized) to her cheerful demeanor to how she just seems to be friends with everyone. I was wanting to do something for a contest she’s hosting based on those Disney Dresspheres she did, but I’m having trouble matching classes to characters.
I figured Dr. Girlfriend is a character I can really go “oh yeah!” when people ask me if I like her (I tend to be pretty apologetic and wishy-washy in my likes, but man, I love her) but I have NO IDEA! what class would be appropriate for her. She’s only “in combat” in a couple of episodes and even then I’m not sure if she ever even fights anybody. Though now that I think about it she does at least fight the Guild’s guys in the season 3 opener, now was that with a weapon or without?
If I don’t feel like I can pick a good match for her I may just give her something random. My friend specifically requested “Red Mage” but that’s just ‘cuz their designs are so cool. I’ve gotta start thinking of alternate characters though, just in case. Raz from Psychonauts would be cool since he doesn’t get much fanart, but then I’d have to research that Psychicer thing from X-2 a little more.
I’ve always wanted to be more crafty, and I’ve always been envious of good cosplayers, too. All that attention and adoration, the chance to show off your skills, sometimes even creatively if you’re the type to take a character and make alternate costumes for them.
And since I’m hoping to go back to PAX Prime this year, and maybe some other ‘cons if the opportunity presents itself, I’d really like to start working on costuming. Plus I was also hoping to work on some more handy-type skills over the summer to help me be more self-sufficient.
So, I’ve been keeping a sort of mental list of things I’d like to someday cosplay as. I’ve also tried ranking them a bit, since some would be way harder than others or require me to put a little more effort into the whole “losing weight” thing. A few I’ve been thinking about are:
-TF2 Medic (not sure if I’d do femMedic or just regular, since the best Medic I’ve ever seen was actually female; this is one of the harder ones)
-Ms. Pauling (just as something probably easy to do)
-Dr. Girlfriend
-Dr. Mrs. The Monarch (these two are separate not only for the costume change but also for character story adjustments and I’d imagine Dr. Mrs. to be the harder of the two; Doc and Jackson themselves have commented on women trying and failing at Molotov’s outfit, which is very similar)
And more recently…Flapjack! Yeah, I’ve been watching old Flapjack episodes online during lunch (I like to have something to do while eating and I haven’t seen a lot of them). His would actually be probably the easiest other than Pauling, though he’s not really that current any more. Still, it’d be something at least, and especially since the trend seems to be “have a different costume for every day, no matter the quality.”
Interesting fact, while Googling “Flapjack cosplay” I found a really excellent Candy Wife. Like…wow, that was good. And who woulda expected it?
