I Wish I'd Thought of That

Been working on another revamp of an old sketch, but of course half my time’s been spent just fixing the original’s anatomy.  Still not perfect, but in comparison much better. Practicing lineart mostly, but I do plan on coloring it.  Eventually.  Why do I always have to be so over-ambitious… I’ve even got a little story, or at least some shoddy rationalization, for this, and if I ever finish the picture itself that’ll have to be typed up to go with it.  Heh, me, thinking I can fanfic. And hi you handful of new followers!  I won’t be spamming your Dash but I do occasionally Like/Post/Reblog NSFW stuff, so I won’t hold it against you if you’re not into that sort of thing.  Though I’d hope you did a little research before diving into my headspace. :3 View Larger

Ta-da!  Bet you weren’t expecting that now were you? A good friend of mine mentioned recently that while there’s plenty of gay TF2 slash (and porn), there’s pretty much none by way of straight or lesbian.  Which is odd, considering I would assume the majority of the playerbase at least is hetero male.  But then again it just seems a common trait that women tend to be more artsy and creative, as I couldn’t name you a single male TF2 fanartist.  But anyway. So here’s some crackship for your viewing pleasure, as I figure if we can subject the guys to terrible OoC pairrings, well the ladies can get it, too.  And maybe I’ll issue a challenge to all you artists out there to maybe branch out a little?   Though honestly it’s not like I’m complaining.  View Larger

I guess in a way this is fanart for Cyan based on their Addiction fic.  They’re really a great writer, especially compared to your typical fan-fiction (not that I have a history of reading much of it in the first place).   I might clean this up later, and some of the anatomy is probably off (there’s always something, especially with a scroonchy pose like this one) but at least I like it for what it is.  Oh yeah, consider this smut a Valentine’s Day picture.  If not emotional love and nurturing, we can at least get something physical, right? Other than Pyro, I’ve always had issues with Scout, for pairing off shenanigans that is.  And I think I’ve realized why.

The Scout is one of the strongest personalities on the team; definitely not one of the strongest combatants, but when it comes to attitude he’s basically number one.  And I’ve been having a hard time reconciling this with any sort of romantic or non pairings.  I thought it was just stereotypes setting in: gay guys can’t be tough assholes, that sort of thing.  And maybe it is partially that.  But I think it’s something else, too.

Even though Scout claims he’s tough, when it comes to respect I can’t really see anyone on the team backing him up, or paling around with him.  Whereas the other have almost natural pairings or at least someone they could have a rivalry with (and non-conners love that) Scout’s pretty much always on his own.  Kind of sad really, since it seems he’s been that way since he was a kid.  He isolates himself behind a bloated ego and speed.  Everyone else seems like they could at least be buddies, be it the drinking or the butt kind.  Plus, it often seems more like everyone else is peers, while Scout is still sitting at the kids’ table.  Hell, some of the stuff I’ve seen with him almost borders on pedophilia if the artist gets any of the “canon” porportions off.

I feel a little bad saying it, but as good as some of this art is, I mentally can’t stand a lot of Scout slash since it almost inevitably forces him into some (headcanon-speaking) OoC position.  Often he ends up going from the smack-talking punk to the timid, inexperienced teen.  Which I’m sure he could very well be, deep down inside, but even then, I don’t see anyone luring it out of him.  Even when he’s in pain he can’t shut up about how bad it hurts; how exactly did a teammate get him to?  This goes back to that whole respect thing; the other members may not like each other, but they’re all either smart enough, strong enough, or skilled enough to be able to cow each other into submission if need be.  I really just can’t see Scout doing that to pretty much anyone, without their consent of course, and only then.  So even when he’s on top it’s only ‘cuz they say so.  

I haven’t looked into it much, but this is why I tend to really like the stuff Humon did with Scout.  Relatively in-character while maintaining the porny status quo.  I know a bunch of people have their little TF2 OCs and they can do whatever they want with them, but I tend to read the characters as a unit, like “all Medics are like X,” can’t really help it until I’m proven wrong by impressive creativity.  

So, I don’t know.  There’s my mini-essay on why Scout porn is always just a little more difficult for me to swallow.

The last one!  Oh noes!  If I had to title this it’d definitely be “Prime Target” or something as that’s how every Medic is sure to feel on the battleground.  Also likely the only time you’ll find Sniper and Spy in agreeance. I actually feel kind of bad, I didn’t do Soldier once in all of this.  I tried, I really did, to come up with some pairing that would work, but pairing him off meant doing something cliche with Medic, so in the end I just decided to be doubly-so I guess.  He’s too manly for all this intimate business anyway, he doesn’t need anyone but himself!   View Larger

So I’m running out of doodles to post; this one’s the penultimate but the first group one I did.  Heavy’s head is probably too big.  While I was working on it it looked okay but I went back and shaved some face off later, and it still looks too long I think. Goes back to the crack-pairing thing.  While I’m sure someone out there is into it (someone always is) there’s not many ways I could put these two together, and Scout ended up looking quite OoC for it.  Also: Draws Scout.  Sees Dean Venture.  Horror. Okay another tame one, but their clothes are slowly disappearing.  Actually I would’ve done them both up in their uniforms if I wasn’t trying to focus on anatomy so now they just look like silly fetishists.   Was going for uncommon pairings so I wouldn’t have any mental stock material to fall back on, and wouldn’t ya know it, Yang posted a picture of the same a day later.   View Larger
